Selection Logic

Small-Bore Valves Need More Than Size and Class

For API 602 purchases, connection type and material grade often change the final configuration as much as pressure class. A useful RFQ should state the line size, class, forged body grade, end connection and service temperature together, rather than asking only for a generic Class 800 valve.

Typical Use of API 602 Forged Steel Valves

These valve families are intended for compact small-bore piping where forged construction and high-integrity shutoff are required. Typical project discussions include process units, utility lines, steam, hydrocarbon service and other applications controlled by the piping class and project valve specification.

For final selection, use the project valve specification, piping material class, approved datasheet and service conditions as the controlling documents.
